Scientists Have Found Answers to Migraine Headaches
Dr. Raymond Damadian, the inventor of the MRI machine, has turned his life toward research. In particular, he began researching migraine headaches and what causes them. His research led him to studying migraine sufferers who had a history of a trauma to the head or neck. These injuries are of interest since they create small but significant upper neck misalignments, which then have an effect on the brain and spinal cord. What he found was that an upper neck misalignment leads to a change in blood flow and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow to the brain. CSF is the fluid that lubricates the brain and spinal cord.
This blockage of flow to the brain happens following a twist or shift of the top bones of the neck. This creates a backup and increased pressure in the head. This same research proved that correction of these top neck bones with specialized upper cervical procedures like NUCCA were able to release the pressure and restore normal flow to the head and neck.
In addition to proper flow to the brain, those who were given the upper cervical correction noticed a significant decrease in their migraine headaches. For some, migraine headache pain was nearly eliminated immediately after the correction.
